After Conner's t-ball game yesterday evening (yes, they actually played! I think they had 2 or 3 rained out after the first game), I drove him up to Jeffersonville to meet Mom and Dad. He was snoozing in the back seat before we were out of Cincinnati. Mom was taking him to see a production of Peter Pan this afternoon, then we're meeting again tomorrow afternoon to trade back. I hope he had a good time!
So today was just about Audrey. I took her to the mall this morning to get a gift card for his preschool teacher, Miss O, but we also did a little more shopping there, too (of course). Our first stop was at Claire's Boutique... guess who got her ears pierced?! I know, I know, it's probably too early, but I couldn't resist. Eric and I talked about it the other night and I decided to go ahead and do it while we were at the mall today. She did great - after the girl did the first one, Audrey said "ow" very calmly. She was a little more upset after the second one but calmed down pretty quickly (the sucker she was given definitely helped!). The rest of our time at the mall she didn't grab at them at all. This is Audrey eating peanut butter and jelly after we got home. If you look closely, you can see the new earrings! (Just small silver balls.)
I was thinking maybe she'd forgotten about the whole process, but when I went to get Aud after her (long) nap this afternoon, she was like, "Mommy, look!" then pointed to one ear, turned her head, and pointed to the other. Then she said, "Hurts me!"
I asked her today if she was Mommy's pretty girl. She said no, she was "Daddy's pretty girl!" Eric was ecstatic.
On the way up to bed (after dinner at Outback and some time spent wandering around Target), Aud looked at me and said, "Mommy, I'm peepy!" I was trying to figure out what she meant. . . had she peed? Did she need to pee? When I realized that she was saying "sleepy"! Funny.

Yesterday at church a friend of ours gave us 4 tickets for the Reds game that afternoon because he wasn't going to be able to go. I thought we'd give Audrey a shot at going (hoping that she would take a nap while we were there... buwho was I kidding?!). We took a quick trip to Sam's Club to pick up some necessities, ran home to change clothes, then off we went to get to the park!
We were only a little bit late (after finding a parking garage and walking); the kids and I got to our seats in the 2nd inning (Eric was off finding dollar hotdogs). They were great seats - on the third base line in the third row of the upper deck. Despite not wanting to sleep (though she definitely had her paci and blankie!) Aud did pretty good - turns out that she looooves peanuts! She even got some of them opened by herself. Conner had a good time and really did well sitting and relaxing during the game. I don't know how much of the game he actually watched, but he had fun flirting with the girls behind us! They were giving out little pink pig Webkinz for the kids, plus some boy gave Conner this big inflatable bat on our way down to the park - the kids raked in the gifts!
Audrey may have held out on the sleeping at the game, but she just couldn't last on the way home.... or once we got there! (She was on the couch for about 2 hours... then was up for half an hour, then went to bed! Poor thing.)
Conner's been using his sidewalk chalk out the on the driveway to make some cool pictures.
Can you tell what they are?(Answers: a chainsaw and a frog eating a fly)
He had his end-of-the-year preschool picnic on Friday. I couldn't go (couldn't get out of school) but Eric was off so he was able to attend. They had some games planned for the kids to parents to take part in, but they also had some free play time. During that time I guess Eric was pushing Conner on the swing, but he pushed a little bit too hard, and Conner went flying. We went to a cookout at one of his school friend's houses on Saturday night, and the parents there were saying that Conner was really a trooper and didn't complain at all. It looks pretty bad, but he's never whined about it (which is very unusual for him nowadays!).
Audrey was playing with her babies today. Very cute.

Eric and Conner are at the Reds game right now - Conner's t-ball team had tickets available and we decided last minute to go. It definitely makes for a late night for the little guy (on a school night!).
Audrey and I went for a short walk (up to the big rock and the little rock) then came home and played for a little while out front. I got her in bed early (after a major meltdown because I wouldn't get the bubbles out!). Both of the kids have been up late the past couple of nights (Sunday night was book club here and yesterday I had softball in Milford) so she was definitely ready! It's nice to sit now and enjoy the quiet... and yet it's still light outside!
(I got the mulch put back without too much damage... don't tell Eric!)

I got her hair up in ponytails last week - and she really enjoyed it! (She at least sat still long enough for me to do it a few times!) Unfortunately, though, it makes Audrey look like such a big girl. I also put them in for church on Sunday... again, very cute, even when she's throwing a fit. Have I mentioned that Aud's very emotional? Crazy.
And last but not least... Eric and Conner saw some turkeys in our neighborhood on Saturday morning. That's not an unusual sight, but these three particular ones were all puffed up (unlike their normal skinny selves). They weren't quite this close - I zoomed in on the camera.

Dash in the box
We had an interesting morning today while getting ready to go to school.
After I got ready, I went into Audrey's room to wake her up. Normally her eyes pop right open when I walk in, but today I had to tickle her a little bit. What's the first thing she said? "Mommy, turn on the light!" She's funny.
I saw Conner stirring in bed while I was in with Aud (and after our trip to the potty), but after she was dressed and ready he was no where to be found. I discovered that Conner'd already gone downstairs to turn on the TV and sit with Dash (the cat). I told him to get back upstairs to get dressed and, after much fussing and arguing, he agreed. He got to his room first, then Aud and I went in to pick out some clothes. As I was helping him get dressed, I heard a funny meowing sound. I said, "Is that Dash?" He was like, "Yeah." I asked him where Dash was, and Conner told me that he'd put him in the drawer in his nightstand. That poor cat. I rescued the poor thing and put him out, then finally Conner made it downstairs to get some breakfast (which I made him eat with us at the table and not sitting on the couch watching tv - he wasn't happy!).
Even after all the hubbub we made it out the door nearly on time. Amazing.

Funny girl
I think I state this often, but Audrey really is a goofball. If you don't get to see her to know that, then you're really missing out (and I am totally unbiased, of course!).
She's really funny in how she wants to be involved in everything and do everything that Conner does. Letting him go outside to play has become an issue because she wants desperately to go, too. The other afternoon as I was trying to get dinner together I let her go out with him in the front yard (we're lucky that we don't live close to a road and I know my kids won't go running off). A few minutes later I looked out to check on them - they were both happily digging in Daddy's dirt. Having a ball (is she a girl, you ask - just keep reading!).
Monday afternoon after we got home from school, I went upstairs to change my clothes. My little shadow came along with me, but headed to her room to play. After I was done I went in there, too. She'd gotten a blanket out of her closet, grabbed the little pillow that Conner used last year at preschool (which was in one of her doll cradles), and one of her "babies" was lying in the middle of the floor "heepin" (sleeping). There was to be no disturbing of that baby!
Audrey tries her best to be Miss Independent. "I do it!", "I got it!", "I dropped it!" are some of her most common phrases. (She actually uses her pronouns well - seems to know when to say I and when to say me.) I forget exactly where we were or what we were doing, but there was one time a few days ago when she wanted to do something and just kept saying "me. . . me. . . me. . ." while I was saying "no. . . no . . . no. . ." Aud also really enjoys dragging her "hool" (stool) around so more things are in reach - like her spoons and forks, anything on the counter, and lots of light switches.

A beautiful weekend
Conner's first t-ball game on Friday evening was a success. He had a great time, hit the ball well, and ran all over the place trying to field the ball, too! They play 2 innings - everyone bats, runs, and no one gets out despite what the defense does (and Conner's team would've gotten some of the kids out!). We were running a bit late in getting there, and Conner was the last batter. But because they all get to run the bases (one base at a time), they were loaded when he got up to bat. As the last batter he got an automatic home run, which means that he had a grand slam both times! If you're keeping track, that puts him at 8 RBI for his first game. No one else has more than 2. :) They were rained out this past Friday evening and have a busy schedule this coming week: practice on Tuesday & Thursday, pictures on Wednesday, and a game on Friday. And thus will be our week!
Took some funny pictures of Audrey the other night. I was trying to get pictures of her (humidity-induced) curly hair, and she wanted me to take pictures of her feet. She's so goofy!
This past week was pretty quiet - it rained quite a bit so Conner's practices were canceled. That was nice because I caught a cold and really didn't want to go sit in the crummy weather! I'm heading off to Chicago on Thursday morning (will get home early Saturday afternoon) for a school thing - it'll be nice to let Eric deal with the kids and t-ball for once!
Chris & Sarah Boston (with Brian, 5, and Ashley, 2) came down Saturday night to stay over and then go with us to the Reds game on Sunday afternoon. The boys slept in Conner's room - Brian in the big bed and Conner on the trundle (by his choice!). It took a little while for them to get to sleep, but it wasn't as late as I thought it might be! Sunday was Miami day at the Reds game - the university president threw out the first pitch (we didn't get there in time for it), the pep band played, and the glee club sang. When we first discussed going I was worried about the weather - April in Ohio is so unpredictable! But when I was worrying about if it would be warm enough or be dry enough, I should've been worried that it would be too hot and too dry! It was crazy-hot - the car thermometer was showing 90+ when we were on our way out. By no means am I complaining, but we definitely got some sun! And the Reds won pretty handily, which was fun, too (though we were in line for hot dogs when the Reds scored 4/8 of their runs).
